Earth Wins Absolute Power When the Sky Did Not Perform Ebbó

Cuando el Cielo No Hizo Ebbo
›

PATAKIN: In this path, the Sky and the Earth began to dispute the absolute power of the world. Upon hearing this, Orunmila told them that both should perform ebbó (sacrifice) so that they could divide the power between them.

The Sky did not listen to Orunmila's words and did not perform the ebbó, as his intention was also not to give anything to the Earth. Since then, every time clouds form over the Earth, the rain falls upon it, because the Earth did perform the ebbó. Whereupon Orunmila replied: "Everything that the Earth gives must return to the Earth."

Olofin Transforms His Prisoners into Pigs

La Transformación
›

PATAKIN: In this path, Olofin had people held prisoner, and they were making a great uproar in their cell. Orunmila asked him for their release. Olofin assured Orunmila that he did not have anyone imprisoned.

Orunmila continued hearing the people's uproar. Olofin, realizing that Orunmila had heard the people again, and in order to avoid being caught in a lie and to prove that he was not lying, assured Orunmila that the prisoners were pigs.

When Orunmila entered that room, he verified that what Olofin had there were indeed pigs. Therefore, Olofin had told the truth. That is why pigs have an organism [internal anatomy] similar to that of human beings.

NOTE: In this path, this Oddun marks transformation. Pigs are not killed; they are used for the ceremony as a "head exchange" (life substitution).
