The Foundational Poem of Intelligence

Otrupon Meyi --- also known as Ologbon Meyi --- revealed how the faculty of intelligence came into the world. The revelation is contained in the names of the celestial Awos who were his diviners, and the poem they composed:

Ologbon Logbonkii Taa Koko Omi Omoron Moron Eekika Yekpe Ode Okpitan Eekipitan Mun Ekitii Uboro Jade Leewa

Which means:

No one can be skilled enough to gather water in their clothes. No one can be intelligent enough to count the sands of the earth. Never can any wise person be so vast in proverbs as to reveal their own secrets in parables.

It was also Ologbon Meyi who revealed how Orunmila and the other divinities returned to the world.

The Tiger's Lack of Will

›

Patakín: The tiger conquered everyone, but had no will where his wife, the tigress, was concerned. One day Orunmila cast his osode and saw this Ifá for him, and said: "You have a weakness for the tigress --- she dominates your will, for she puts you to sleep before ofikale trupon (intercourse)."

This is why the Awo must never let himself be taken hold of by the woman, for it makes him lose his will --- when it is he who must always dominate her. Ifá of enslavement to a woman.
